In exactly(ish) three months, our big travel media event, TravelCon, kicks off! We’re super excited to have our first in-person event after three years of waiting (stupid COVID!). We’ve been doing a lot of planning recently, so I want to fill you in on all the exciting things we’re working on! Here’s the low down:
What’s TravelCon?
TravelCon is a three-day conference that will connect you with industry leaders, influencers, and celebrated writers through keynote speeches, small-group writing and photography workshops, breakout tutorial sessions, networking events, and industry panels.
So, if you’re a creative in the travel industry, this conference is the place to meet with brands, connect with your peers, and learn practical, to-the-point strategies for building your audience, growing your traffic, improving your skills, and making more money.
This year’s conference is April 29–May 1, 2022, in Memphis, Tennessee, hosted by Memphis Tourism.
Speakers
We have over 40 speakers confirmed so far (there are still more to confirm as we finalize our YouTube, photography, luxury travel, and some other tracks). Here’s who is speaking so far:
You can find all their bios and more about them by clicking here.
Schedule
We released a draft schedule of the event here so you can see how the days will break down and what the flow of the event will be:
In the next month, we’ll release the final schedule but here are some of the talks we’ll be having at TravelCon:
- How to Successfully Run Small Group Tours
- How to Crush it on TikTok
- Going From Micro-Influencer to Full-Time Job
- Writing 101: How to Create Stories that Grip People
- How to Build Online Communities
- How to Monetize a Single Destination Website
- How to Get Freelance Writing Work
- How to Expand Your Business with a Team
- How to Grow and Monetize Your RV Related Website
- Affiliate Marketing 101
- Google Analytics 101
- Self-Publishing
- How to Pitch Brands/DMOs
- How to Create Successful IG Partnerships
- And plenty more to come!
Sponsors
We’re up to over a dozen sponsors and expect to have close to 40 by the time it’s all said and done. Here’s a list of who is coming so far:

Workshop Information
As we’ve done in years past, we’re going to have photography and writing workshops. These are half-day, intensive, and hands-on classes that will occur the day before the main event (April 28th). Space is limited to 20 people per class and these workshops are an additional cost of $99 USD.
You can learn more about the writing workshop leaders by clicking here (we’re still lining up our photography workshop leaders).
Some other highlights
There’s a bunch of other cool stuff happening at this year’s TravelCon that includes:
- Over 15 niche meet-ups
- Two awesome parties
- A scavenger hunt around Memphis
- Pre- and post-conference FAM trips around Memphis and the region
- And a few more surprises I don’t want to spoil!
If you’re a travel creator, you need to be at TravelCon! I created it as a way to bring in experts inside and outside of the travel sphere that can help you grow your business, make more money, and improve your skills. It’s a continuing education that will help you transform your career.
So, come attend this event, mingle with your peers, make deals with sponsors, and create the connections you need for success.
You can grab your ticket here.
See you in Memphis!
And, if you have any questions, email me at [email protected].

Book Your Trip: Logistical Tips and Tricks
Book Your Flight
Find a cheap flight by using Skyscanner or Momondo. They are my two favorite search engines because they search websites and airlines around the globe so you always know no stone is left unturned.
Book Your Accommodation
You can book your hostel with Hostelworld. If you want to stay somewhere other than a hostel, use Booking.com as they consistently return the cheapest rates for guesthouses and cheap hotels.
Don’t Forget Travel Insurance
Travel insurance will protect you against illness, injury, theft, and cancellations. It’s comprehensive protection in case anything goes wrong. I never go on a trip without it as I’ve had to use it many times in the past. My favorite companies that offer the best service and value are:
- SafetyWing (best for everyone)
- Insure My Trip (for those over 70)
- Medjet (for additional evacuation coverage)
Ready to Book Your Trip?
Check out my resource page for the best companies to use when you travel. I list all the ones I use when I travel. They are the best in class and you can’t go wrong using them on your trip.
